Weekend trip to Florence October 31st-November 2nd

This was an amazing weekend in Firenze, Italian for Florence. Everyone in our class went on this trip. Dave our Photography teacher also came on this trip and was pretty much our leader for the weekend. Which is really nice of him because he didn't have to hangout with us at all sense this was not a school event. Traveling to Florence was great! We took the train from Perugia straight to there. I have never taken a train like that before and it was really fun. We were all able to sit together and enjoy the ride. Before we let we paid to have these special passes called a Firenze pass. This pass let us skip the very long lines to get into the museums, Duomo, and the tower. The first evening there we went to the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore, which is more commonly called the Duomo. This was an amazing church and the dome was huge. It is the first dome to be built the was it was (not a coffered ceiling). The dome was painted magnificently of a scene of heaven and hell. We weren't able to make it to the top of the dome before sunset but that was okay with me because the view was still spectacular. The sky was an amazing shade of blue and red with the the tower and the cites lights as the background of our view. Then we continued on with this Halloween night eating some dinner and ending up playing cards on the steps of the Duomo. It was quite an amazing first day there.
Saturday, November 1st, we got up early and found our way to the the Uffizi Gallery to meet dave. We got there when it opened and sense we had our pass we were there first people in there! We raced up quite a number of stairs so we could be there first people in room 11. This room was detected to Botticelli! We got to see his works up close but could not take any pictures. But we were able to see the famous Birth of Venus and it truly took my breath away. We also got to see other works by Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael. This museum was huge and help so many masterpieces you could spend days in here if you wanted. After the museum we went in search of some food and got kebabs, I have eaten a lot of these tasty treats on this trip to Italy so I have to explain to you what they are. Kebabs are a type of turkish food that can be served in a warp or a bun inside there is meat that is pork, fries, spicy sauce, cabbage, and lettuce. If you every see a place selling these I recommend getting one! Then we stopped by the Galileo Museum really fast. I though it was fascinating because I love science and this displace all of his works and explained the science behind them. After this we went to out hotel to rest. Then that night we went to the tower to get sunset pictures off of the tower looking at the Duomo. I have so many pictures of this because we were up at the top for a long time and the light kept changing making it even more beautiful. After this we walked around taking pictures of this beautiful city.
On sunday we woke up early again to meet Dave at the Academia, which is famous for housing The David by Michelangelo. We again arrived early and were the first people in there! Being the first people in there and the only ones in the room for a few minutes lets you really take in how magnificent and huge the statue is. He is a little disproportional because the statue was suppose to go on top of a building. It is amazing the detail in it. You will see in the pictures below. After this we went to the Modern Art Museum and walked around there and spent a nice afternoon in the gardens that are there. Then we grabbed a quick bite and left on the train back to Perugia!
